'Lie still my little one.
It's not time to wake.
And in the morning when we do
We'll walk along the lake.'

The sun arose among the trees,
The Mother clothed her child.
The child, she just couldn't wait,
Her excitement was running wild.

In a perfect little spot
A blanket was laid down.
The dog, he tried to run away,
The Mother gave a frown.

'Hold onto him, don't let go,
Don't let him run away.'
'I won't Mama,' did say the child
And shouted to the dog 'Stay!'

This ferocious little tugging beast
Ignored it's child master.
Again the girl wailed 'Stay!'
But the dog just pulled her faster.

The dog, he dragged her for a mile
And pulled her in the lake.
An angel came to stand nearby
For her soul to take.

This beautiful, little darling dear
Caught an awful chill.
Now in her final resting place
Will forever be lying still.

'So lie still my little one
It'll never be time to wake
And never a morning will come again
When we'll walk along the lake...'
This poem was written when I was about 13 or 14 years old as part of a high school English project, where the class entered a national competition for a book of poetry and short stories that was to be published. I didnt win, although a classmates work was selected. This piece was well remembered by my teachers however as apparently they were still showing it to students when my brother joined the class a few years later

Wow that was years ago! I'm still very proud of it, evidenced here as I still remember every word from memory lol :D

Spoiler / warning: ok so this is about a young girl who passes away so it's pretty sad so if u get choked up easily it's not for you

Enjoy
